About Jamie
Jamie joined the lab in September 2026 following a field season out at Sable Island. Her research focuses on population dynamics of ungulate species using Sable Island horses as a base model, and analyzing mark-recapture strategies in feral horse populations using camera trap data. She completed her BSc in Natural Resource Conservation with a major in Science and Management at the University of British Columbia. Her undergrad research included work on a mark-recapture study on feral horses in BC and a directed study on rainbow trout microbiomes. Alongside academics, she is an avid equestrian, holding her Equine Canada Competition Coaching License, and coached the UBC Intercollegiate Dressage Team during her undergrad. In her free time she can be found at the barn or hanging out with her cat, 'Dino' (whom she found while camping in Dinosaur Provincial Park).
